Rozanna Mediterranean Restaurant Takeaway. Rozanna rises above the rest as one of the best Mediterranean spots I've found in St. Louis, earning a solid 8.1/10. The shish tawook sandwich (with garlic sauce) and top-tier fries deliver the goods, but the real stars are the appetizers. Get a couple apps (baba ganoush, hummus, etc) and a sandwich, and you're looking at about $25 per person, which is a steal for this quality.

It's worth the trip, especially if you're grabbing dinner with a group before hitting the room escape across the street. Just maybe skip Friday nights if you want to actually hear your friends talk.

Parking is ridiculously easy with a massive lot. Service is fast and responsive. The location right across from the room escape makes it super convenient for a pre-activity dinner.

You can see why I come here with all this escape room talk 🙂

Rozanna Mediterranean Restaurant Experience Summary

Rozanna has become my go-to spot for dinner with the team before we tackle a room escape. It's consistently delicious, but even more surprisingly, it's actually one of the better Mediterranean restaurants I've had in St. Louis.

Now, before you get too excited, let me be clear. Saying it's goodMediterranean in St. Louis isn't exactly saying much. The top of the line would include Milano Kabob and Sultan, both very strong

But then there has been a pretty big gap.

Rozanna covers it, and that counts for something when you're hunting for great food around the city.

Walking in, you immediately notice the space is big. Plenty of seating, even on a Friday night at 7 PM. I made a reservation for six people, but we definitely didn't need it. I've never seen it packed, even at prime times.

The meal started strong with a complimentary three-dip appetizer. One was red bean, one was black bean, and one was olive. All three were delicious and set the tone for what was coming. This is the kind of touch that makes you feel like you're getting taken care of, even before you order.

My wife and I each got sandwiches, and our table of six split three or four appetizers. The total came to $49 for the two of us, including a Diet Coke. That's about $25 per person, including the shared apps, which feels like a genuine deal for the quality and quantity of the food.

The real test came with the main event. My shish tawook sandwich, loaded with that garlic sauce, it hit exactly right. The fries were legitimately excellent. The appetizers made my taste buds happy. Everything worked.

By the end of the meal, I had my answer. All in, 8.1/10 is a top 20% restaurant in my book.

Is Rozanna perfect? No. Is it convenient, affordable, and reliably good? Absolutely.

For a pre-room escape dinner spot in St. Louis, you really can't beat it.

The Food At Rozanna

Rozanna shish tawook sandwich

The shish tawook sandwich is my standard, and it requires one critical modification. You absolutely need to add the garlic sauce.

Without it, the sandwich is fine but nothing special. The base sauce just isn't flavorful enough on its own. It needs that extra punch. With the garlic sauce? Different story. The pickles and cabbage are fine, and everything mixes together in a way that actually works. It's well-seasoned, with plenty of Mediterranean flavor in every bite, but it needs the standout sauce.

2025 Update: Coming back here a couple of months ago for a date night with friends, I have the Shish Tawook Rozanna, which is an experience I recommend. It's on the more "expensive" side, but still a good deal at $20. The puff pastry comes stuffed with everything in the pita, but with potatoes. Definitely an experience to try.

But here's the thing. The appetizers are actually the standout at Rozanna. If you're smart about it, you order a couple of appetizers and a sandwich for your entrée, and you walk out full and happy.

The hummus is very good. Their version of baba ganoush is very good. We ordered fatayer because they were out of falafel, which is honestly a weird thing for a Middle Eastern restaurant to run out of. But they comped us by charging the falafel price instead of the higher fatayer price, which was a classy move.

Rozanna fattoush

The fatayer was excellent. Cheesy, with nice dough and good flavor throughout. We tried both the cheese and spinach versions, and both were great. They're kind of like a little spinach pie or a Mediterranean take on a Hot Pocket, if you want to think of it that way.

Now, let's talk about the fries.

These fries are top-notch. Probably an 8/10, and I don't say that lightly. They're way better than McDonald's. Solid, crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy in the middle. They have that extra light, flaky exterior that I really love. I dipped them in ketchup to round out the full experience, and they held up perfectly.

2025 Update: Turns out the chef at Layali Halab Mediterranean used to work here. The fries at both places are essentially the same and just as delicious. 100% should be part of your order.

The whole meal for two, including sandwiches, shared appetizers, and a drink, came to $49. That's the kind of value that keeps me coming back.

Rozanna Atmosphere And Miscellaneous

The atmosphere at Rozanna can be my one real issue with the place. Note: this only happened 1 of the 3 or 4 times I've been there.

It's very hard to hear and understand people when you're there. There are two reasons for this.

The first and main one is the live music. On the Friday night we went, someone was playing in the background, and it was way too loud. Trying to hold a conversation with six people was genuinely difficult. Everyone was leaning in, repeating themselves, and basically shouting over the music.

When she stopped playing her set, the whole vibe changed. Suddenly, it was much easier to talk and way more fun to actually hang out.

The second issue, and this one is harder to pin down, is that it was very hard to understand our waitress. I didn't get her name, but communicating with her wasn't the easiest. We had to ask her to repeat herself a couple of times throughout the meal.

That said, she was responsive and fast. No real issues with the service overall. She kept things moving, refilled drinks, and handled our table of six without any problems.

2025 Update: Service has always been speedy on repeat visits.

The space itself is big and can definitely handle groups. We had six people on a Friday night at 7 PM with a reservation we didn't even need. There's plenty of room, so don't stress about fitting your crew in.

Parking At Rozanna

Parking was super simple. There's a giant parking lot right next to it, shared with Dierbergs.
